Compression
Files are compressed to make them smaller, and hence
quicker, to download from the Internet.
There are two types of compression - lossy such as JPEG and MPEG - these remove some data considered unnecessary
causing some loss of quality but high compression ratio.
The second type - lossless - such as ZIP, PNG and
GIF where files are
compressed less but there is no loss of quality.
No compression = slow web pages |
